Chris Bos wants lawmaker to deal with social justice, criminal reform

Republican Illinois House candidate Chris Bos of Lake Zurich has thrown his support behind growing calls for lawmakers to return to Springfield to deal with issues like criminal and social justice reform.

“They’re just so many issues on the table right now that we need to be dealing with,” Bos told the Lake County Gazette. “The last special session we had ended so early many vital issues were left untouched. ...

“We really need everyone back beyond a special session,” Bos, an Ela Township trustee running against incumbent Rep. Mary Edly-Allen (D-Libertyville) in the 51st District, told the Lake County Gazette

GOP state House candidate Bos says $42 billion budget creates even more problems for Illinois

Republican state House candidate Chris Bos fears the $42 billion state budget passed by Illinois Democrats only stands to create more issues for the long troubled state.

“This level of irresponsible spending ultimately falls back on every family and every child for generations to come,” Bos, now running against incumbent state Rep. Mary Edly-Allen (D-Libertyville) in the 51st District, told the Lake County Gazette

Bos, a Lake Zurich native, argues that harsh reality is as evident as it gets when one considers a provision in the new spending plan that Democrats banded together to send to the desk of Gov. J.B. Pritzker stands to make Illinois the first state in the country to provide Medicaid regardless of immigration status. As of July 1, 2021, undocumented immigrants over the age of 65 with incomes of $12,670 or less would be eligible to receive Medicaid benefits. ...

GOP state House candidate Bos says $42 billion Democrat-approved Illinois budget is reckless and foolish

Republican state House candidate Chris Bos wonders what it will take for Democrats in Springfield to change their destructive ways.

“I think it’s reckless, foolish and absurd that they continue to tax and spend in the midst of one of the great financial crisis,” Bos, an Ela Township trustee running against incumbent state Rep. Mary Edly-Allen (D-Libertyville) in the 51st District, told the Lake County Gazette. “It’s just maddening that with all that’s happening they would come together to produce a budget like this, then actually celebrate doing so.”

The $42 billion budget was approved by Democrats during a recent four-day special session in Springfield. Gov. J.B. Pritzker is now almost certain to sign off on it, even though it heavily relies on funding from the federal government to fill gaps made even steeper by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The bill also clears the path for a $5 billion loan that would also come from the federal government. ...

Republican candidate Bos hopes legislature can end governor's illegal COVID-19 mandates

Republican State House candidate Chris Bos is hoping lawmakers in Springfield are ready to teach Gov. J.B. Pritzker an undeniable lesson when they reconvene in the General Assembly.

“I’m hopeful that the legislature is ready to fully define for the governor what 30 days mean,” Bos told the Lake County Gazette. "That’s the law; that he can impose a state of emergency like his stay-at-home order for 30 days. That’s a good thing, because in this case I don’t think the governor has a pulse or handle on what these communities are across the state want to see and are in need of.”

Bos, now running against incumbent Rep. Mary Edly-Allen (D-Libertyville) in the 51st District, said the governor lobbing threats only makes things worse. ...

Illinois House candidate announces food drives to support local pantries

Like other candidates for state office, Chris Bos has announced and organized food drives to support food pantries in his local area. For Bos, that means the pantries in Lake Zurich, Libertyville, and Mundelein, Illinois.

“The small businesses and faith leaders in our community are serving as an inspiration for their service and leadership during this crisis and I’m happy my team and I can join their efforts and provide assistance and donations in support of these great organizations,” Bos said. “As our community faces unique challenges, we are providing service to those in need through projects like this.” ...

To make donating easier and safer, given the COVID-19 pandemic, members of Team Bos will come to residents’ homes and pick up their donations from their porches, without touching anyone and with minimal contact in general.

Individuals interested in donating to these food pantries are asked to contact Team Bos by email at [email protected] ...

State House candidate Bos says governor's economic plan lacks urgency that situation demands

Illinois House candidate Chris Bos views Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s five-phase plan for fully reopening the state’s economy as a mixed-bag proposition.

“I’m glad the governor finally put forward something, although there’s a lot of concern about some of what he’s proposing,” Bos, who is running against incumbent Rep. Mary Edly-Allen (D-Libertyville) in the 51st District, told the Lake County Gazette. “There are a lot of things that don’t make sense if we’re talking about them through the metrics of the data that has been made publicly available.” ...

Bos tells Pritzker to give small businesses guidelines on reopening

Republican House candidate Chris Bos demanded that Gov. J.B. Pritzker give small business owners in the state more of a chance at survival.

“Of course we’ve got to do everything that we can do to save as many lives as we can from this COVID-19 pandemic, but at the same time the governor has to lay out what the metrics are for what will determine when people can restart their businesses and when workers can go back to work,” Bos, told the Lake County Gazette. ...

Candidate Bos finds treatment of small businesses 'totally unfair'

Illinois House candidate Chris Bos’ pain over the COVID-19 crisis stems from personal experience.

“I have friends that own small businesses in this area and it’s heartbreaking to see them being hurt by this thing over and over,” Bos (R-Lake Zurich), running against incumbent Rep. Mary Edly-Allen (D-Libertyville) in the 51st District, told the Lake County Gazette. “Small businesses are the lifeblood of every community in the way they’re the first to hire and offer the most flexibility for working parents. That a lot of this is happening to them is totally unfair.” ...

State 'can’t tax our way to prosperity' after coronavirus, House candidate Bos says

Chris Bos struggles to understand how anyone can be surprised by the findings in a new WalletHub.com survey where Illinois ranks near the top of state economies most vulnerable to the deadly coronavirus pandemic.

“It’s not a shocker when Illinois has the top tax burden of any state in the country,” Bos, now running against incumbent Rep. Mary Edly-Allen (D-Libertyville) in the 51st District, told the Lake County Gazette. “What’s more, we’re not posed for recovering well from something like this. We still haven’t recovered from the last recession and that’s part of the reason property taxes are so much higher and home values are lower.” ...
