Bos calls for Springfield lawmakers to give small businesses 'some hope'

With crisis all around them stemming from the coronavirus pandemic, Chris Bos argues it’s time Springfield lawmakers take a stand.

“We need to start showing our small business owners that we want them here,” Bos, running against incumbent Rep. Mary Edly-Allen (D-Libertyville) in the 51st District, told the Lake County Gazette. “A lot of them were in a crisis even before the pandemic, trying to deal with our incredibly high taxes, pending progressive tax and all the others. I think it’s critical that in the midst of all this uncertainty we give small business owners some hope.” ...

Bos says recovery from COVID-19 will be harder unless legislators, Pritzker change spending

Republican House candidate Chris Bos is doing all he can to make sure Illinois remains what it’s always been in the aftermath of the COVID-19 crisis.

“I think there has been some overreach in terms of what’s being shut down by our local government,” Bos, now running against incumbent Rep. Mary Edly-Allen (D-Libertyville) in the 51st District, told the Lake County Gazette. “It’s not what’s happening in many other states, only those run by Democratic leaders.”

In nearby Champaign, a city ordinance has been enacted that gives the mayor and city council the power to do everything from limit gun sales to ration utilities and seize private property. The newly approved legislation also grants leaders the power to impose emergency curfews, bar residents from public buildings and shutter businesses over at least the next month. ...

With election looming, Bos reminds voters of Edly-Allen's loyalty to Madigan

Republican state House candidate Chris Bos argues residents of his 51st District have never stood a chance under incumbent state Rep. Mary Edly-Allen (D-Libertyville).

“I think it’s been that way from the very beginning, ever since that moment when she took a million dollars from Mike Madigan and voted that he carry on as House Speaker,” Bos told the Lake County Gazette. “She’s shown where her loyalties lie. The vast majority of the community doesn’t want Madigan, but she continues to support him.” ...

Bos claims change can't happen with current leadership in Springfield

Chris Bos thinks every voter should have a clear and simple criteria when they go to the polls.

“For any candidate, if they’ve taken money from Mike Madigan or haven’t promised not to vote to re-elect him as House Speaker that should be enough not to cast a vote for them,” Bos, now running against incumbent Rep. Mary Edly-Allen (D-Libertyville) in the 51st District, told the Lake County Gazette. "For anyone that’s serious about trying to get this state back on track that should be the first question they ask before casting a vote.”

Bos points to a new WalletHub survey that concludes for the third straight year Illinois is home to the second-highest property taxes in the country behind only New Jersey as an indictment of the way Springfield has conducted business largely under Madigan’s watch. ...

Bos says he will 'fight this false narrative' that Pritzker's proposed progressive tax will help Illinois

Chris Bos is sounding the alarm about the progressive tax Gov. J.B. Pritzker has thrown his full support behind as a replacement for the state’s current flat tax system.

“Voters need to be informed about the reality of what this tax will mean,” Bos (R-Lake Zurich), who is running against incumbent Rep. Mary Edly-Allen (D-Libertyville) in the 51st District, told the Lake County Gazette. “I’ll continue to do all I can to fight this false narrative that this will move this state forward. Nothing could be further from the truth and every state where it’s been enacted has been decimated by it.”

Bos directly signals out Edly-Allen as not standing by her word. “Instead of standing up for taxpayers, now she’s saying yes to this tax,” he said. ...

Bos says red-light camera debacle took a good thing and made it bad

Chris Bos considers the whole red-light camera debate to be a complicated issue.

“It’s like a few of the things in Springfield in that it’s a policy that could be of some benefit to the state but because of all the corruption associated with it everything that could maybe be a positive gets lost in the wash,” Bos told the Lake County Gazette. “I think it’s really complicated because there are some areas where the cameras have been clearly helpful at high-traffic intersections.”

Still, Bos, running against incumbent state Rep. Mary Edly-Allen (D-Libertyville), admits if he were already in Springfield he would be joining with the growing number of GOP lawmakers now calling for a ban on the cameras. ...

"You see how in some areas they flood the neighborhoods with the cameras and you know the whole reason behind that is to generate revenue,” - Chris Bos

Lake Zurich, IL – Republican Chris Bos, candidate for the 51st District of the Illinois House of Representatives, issued a statement following the governor’s budget address:

“Rather than rooting out all of the waste, fraud and abuse, politicians in Springfield continue to spend money we don’t have while Illinois is backlogged with more than $7 billion in bills we can’t pay.

“As Illinois sets records for the highest tax burden and population loss, it begs the question: where is Representative Mary Edly-Allen’s leadership?

Bos considers Gas Station Attendant Act an 'overreach and abuse of power'

A new bill that would ban state motorists from pumping their own gas illustrates why Illinois House candidate Chris Bos (R-Lake Zurich) wants so much to go to Springfield to represent the 51st District.

“It is a 100-percent overreach and abuse of power in terms of what government should be doing,” Bos, running against incumbent Rep. Mary Edly-Allen (D-Libertyville), told the Lake County Gazette of the so-called Gas Station Attendant Act. “There is no logic to the bill, no logical reasoning for it other than the potential of promised jobs. ..."

Ela trustee Bos warns voters about Pritzker's tax plan – 'Just another bait-and-switch scam'

Illinois House candidate Chris Bos (R-Lake Zurich) argues that nothing about Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s progressive income-tax proposal seems to add up.

“Even when you look at his own math, that’s still the case,” Bos told the Lake County Gazette. “He’s said it will bring in about $3.4 billion, but he’s already pledged another $10 billion in spending from when it passes. It’s just another bait-and-switch scam.” ...

Fair maps a logical 'first step toward change in Springfield,' Ela Township Trustee Bos says

Illinois House candidate and Ela Township Trustee Chris Bos (R-Lake Zurich) says there were no surprises from Gov. J.B. Pritzker in his State of the State address last week in Springfield.

“Like with most things said and done by the governor, there was just a whole of lot of nothing with the speech,” Bos, currently running against incumbent state Rep. Mary Edly-Allen (D-Libertyville) in the 51st District, told the Lake County Gazette. “He can make whatever statements he wants, but has shown no ability to back things up. I know if he wanted to he could force changes, but when he and other Democrats are the recipients of the corrupt system in Springfield, that’s never going to happen..."
